In my humble opinion, the maxi dress is one of those trends that truly never goes out of style. It was introduced by Oscar de la Renta back in 1968, made for Elizabeth Arden, and featured in the New York Times. Other designers such as YSL and Dior caught on to the trend in the early 1970’s, introducing lace and cotton looks, as well as bohemian prints. Ever since then, the maxi dress has been in style in one form or another. It’s seriously one of the easiest pieces to wear – it only takes one article of clothing to make the outfit, and you instantly carry that bohemian 70’s look with you all day long.
I wear this particular maxi dress to any occasion – it was my outfit to my sister’s graduation party, but I’ve also worn it with white converse, out to shop and run errands. It’s a look that can be dressed up or down – to a wedding or a Target run. Wherever you’re wearing your favorite maxi to, you’re always carrying a timeless style with you.
