I’ve hardly ever shot at night before, so this shoot was a fun change. It just so happened to be a beautiful, fiery sunset that night, and we got a sick photo, (directly below) of it.
I love experimenting with different types of photography – whether that be directly sunlight, golden hour light or night light. There’s something really unique about each time of day, and you just gotta find your favorite type of light (or lack thereof), to shoot in.
I had a lot of fun with this shoot, because at night, you no longer have the natural light, so you can gotta get creative with different types of fluorescent and artificial light. I suggest shooting under neon/bar lights like I did in this parking garage. There’s an actual cocktail bar INSIDE this garage, because it wouldn’t be Austin unless there’s a grungy, hidden hipster bar inside a place where people park their cars. And yes, the bar is actually called Garage.
Along the lines of experimental shooting, I’m thinking about doing a post on my tips for posing in photos – what angle the photographer should be shooting at for different shots, and how to get creative with posing. What do you guys think? Do you think this would be helpful for other bloggers out there/anyone looking to step up their Insta game?
