Obviously with this tee, I had to put together a Spotify rock playlist. I didn’t want to do the predictable playlist of rock ‘n’ roll music from the 60’s and 70’s, because, if you’ve been following me even in the slightest, I talk a lot about my love for this era of music. Instead, I wanted to share with you guys a playlist that I’ve had for a while now, but just made a little shorter (my original playlist is almost 14 hours long). So, I give you guys my (condensed) list of favorite rock songs from the 90’s and 2000’s.
If you’re around my age, these two decades defined your childhood, and especially in my teen years. No lie, I hadn’t listened to this playlist in a while, and going back through it, I literally almost teared up. You all know what I’m talking about when an entire playlist of music defines all the good, bad and ugly from your teenage years. Every song takes me back to a specific memory, or feeling, or period of time when I was navigating through my adolescent years. Especially in high school, my friends and I were really into rock – a few of my faves were Hootie & the Blowfish, John Mayer, Matchbox Twenty, and my all-time fave, The Goo Goo Dolls (all included in the below playlist).
I mean, if you don’t shed just a single tear when playing “Graduation” by Vitamin C or “Good Riddance” by Green Day, or haven’t seen the entire 9 seasons of One Tree Hill at least twice, all the way through, then we can’t be friends. Some of the greatest rock music emerged from these two decades, so take a listen, and let me know what else you would add to this list!
