Marfa Memories – Memorial Weekend 2019

Posted on

*Nobody cares about your fake life on Instagram*

That’s what I’ve been telling myself these past few weeks, after I had a total shift in my perspective on this platform. I explained a few weeks ago how I am over all of the “pretty” photos on IG. I’m over all of my perfectly planned & curated photo shoots & content – I just started to feel like it was all so fake, and didn’t accurately show my personality, or who I really am.

I started this blog two years ago this month, and with my first ever post, I’ve gone 100% and haven’t looked back. My personality is to always do things all or nothing, and that has definitely applied to my blog.

Although I am so proud of everything I’ve created, it’s time to do things differently. As we shift towards a new decade, that comes with new trends & styles. People are over the perfectly styled shots in front of the perfectly pink walls – and frankly, I am too. All I want is to be as real as I can be on the platform, and with my brand.

So, moving forward, you’ll be seeing a lot more lifestyle shots of whatever I’m doing that day, way more posting in real time, more iPhone shots & less professional photos, less filters, and just a stripped down look in general. Also, I’m so over worrying about my “aesthetic” in my feed. From now on, I’ll be posting what I want, when I want.

So there ya go. I’m just a girl, who’s out here trying to be real with you guys. You feel me?

Below is basically my photo album from my most recent trip to Marfa, that I took over Memorial Day weekend. This was the trip where I kicked off my new look and vibe. My sister and I had the best time walking all around town, taking photos and trying to find grungy, unique spots (which isn’t hard to find in Marfa).

Since I’m on that grunge look and style these days, I thought it would be fun to dress on theme during the entire weekend. When you travel to Marfa, you expect to find people dressed very West Texas/cowboy style, which I had always done in the past. But this time around, I wanted to do something totally different and unexpected. I went on a Forever 21 haul days before this trip, so most of my looks below are all under $100.

I’m so excited and motivated for what’s to come with my new style and outlook on this platform. Stay tuned!
