In my New Year’s To-Do’s post, I explained how I wanted to focus on writing more about music this year. Today, I’m living up to these goals by featuring my fave rock ‘n’ roll bands from the 60’s and 70’s, along with a playlist feat. my fave songs from these bands.
Back in a time where the performers of songs actually wrote all their own music – a time where the lines of poetry and music were blurred. A time that was possibly the most creative in our history, musically.
A time of the British Invasion, where bands like The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Byrds, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones came to America and turned the entertainment business upside down. Bands like Credence Clearwater Revival and Lynryd Skynyrd brought the melodic sounds of American Southern Rock to the forefront, and who were more country than country music today ever could be. The Jam Band sounds of the Grateful Dead and The Allman Brothers created an entirely new genre of music that still has one of THE most loyal followings, to this day.
My personal faves are The Grateful Dead, The Eagles and Led Zeppelin. I’ve included a few of their songs, along with plenty more incredible bands from these two decades – The Golden Age of music. Let me know your thoughts on the playlist! What songs would you guys add??
