Big thank you to Activist Skincare for sponsoring this post – all opinions are my own.
I’ll admit, when it comes to trying and discovering new skincare products, I’m more of a “stick to what I know” type of consumer. Unlike my sister, who is the first to try new products and beauty tools every chance she gets, I’m more cautious, especially when it comes to my skin. I grew up with pretty oily skin and bad acne, so my hesitation to try new products stems from the fear of another horrible breakout from a new product. Although I’ve stuck to the same skincare routine since high school (you can read about my daily skincare routine that doesn’t take more than 5 minutes each day), I was pretty eager to try the Activist Skincare products. I had heard good things about them, so I thought, why not?
I ordered the Signature Hyaluronic Acid, Botanical Cleansing Oil and the Cleansing Balm. After just a week of use from all three products, I can honestly say, my skin feels pretty amazing. It’s definitely softer, and more moisturized. I used both the Cleansing Balm and Botanical Cleansing Oil (both facial cleansers), interchangeably, followed by the Signature Hyaluronic Acid Serum, to moisturize after I cleansed. The two cleansers play the same role, but in different forms. The Cleansing Oil is very runny and light – not thick like most facials cleansers tend to be. The Cleansing Balm has a thicker consistency, almost like a face mask – both cleansers leave your face feeling super refreshed and clean.
The Hyaluronic Acid Serum acts as a moisturizer, boosting collagen, brightening the complexion and reducing inflammation. I don’t usually use serums (I usually just stick to facial lotion), but this serum does more than just moisturize, AND it smells absolutely amazing. I ordered the Signature serum, but you can also put in a custom order, by filling out questions about your skin type, and their skin experts determine the right combination of ingredients for your skin. It’s like getting a mini facial at home, with your own personal dermatologist!
Each Activist product is vegan and made by hand using natural products, as well as free of artificial parabens and fragrances. Attention to details goes in to each and every bottle (and each product is coated with their signature frosted amber bottles, which block light, keeping the product fresher for longer). AND 5% of every purchase goes to charity. You can read more about which charities your purchase is going to by visiting the Activist site.
So, if you’re like me, and a little skeptical of trying new skincare products, I feel you. And I would definitely recommend you overcome that fear with Activist Skincare. And if it doesn’t work out, at least you donated to charity! Shop all the Activist products, below. xoxo
